Bangabandhu is the true inspiration for the generations to come
Bangladesh Embassy in Mexico City celebrated the 102nd Birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day today on 17 March 2022 with the spontaneous participation of around 100 students of “Colegio Ciudad de México” school in a festive manner.
The activities of the Day commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador Abida Islam with the tune of the national anthem at the Chancery. She also inaugurated the bust of Bangabandhu at the Chancery and paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing a floral wreath on the bust in presence of all the officials of the Embassy. Later, a special prayer was offered followed by reading out of messages of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs given on this occasion. The Embassy officials took part in the discussion session and highlighted the significance of the Day. A short documentary on Bangabandhu was also screened at that time.
During the second segment at the “Colegio Ciudad de México” school, the Principal of the High-School Ms. Paula Rincon congratulated Bangladesh Embassy on this august occasion in presence of approximately 100 students of different ages and members of the teaching staff. In her welcome remarks, she encouraged the Embassy to hold such events frequently involving the young generation of Mexico so that they could learn more about Bangladesh and thus broaden their horizons. At that time, the Spanish version of the ‘Historic 7 March Speech’ of Bangabandhu and leaflets on the Bangladesh-Mexico bilateral relation, in Spanish, were distributed among the students.
It was followed by a presentation on ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ by Ambassador Abida Islam where she paid her rich tribute to the Father of the Nation and highlighted the political life, contributions, and legacy of Bangabandhu including his love for children to the audience. She also presented the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh including its impressive socio-economic development at present. Later, a Bangladeshi child performer danced with a Bangla song at the event which enthralled the audience.
Afterwards, with the participation of all the students and officials of the school Ambassador Abida Islam cut the cake on this joyous occasion and presented the students with gift bags containing coat pins and mugs with the Mujib logo on it including some refreshments.
To present the cultural richness of Bangladesh, the Embassy set up a Bangladesh Corner on one side of the hall at the school premises and displayed mannequins wearing traditional dresses, handicrafts, exportable items of Bangladesh. Also, information and videos on history, culture and education opportunities in Bangladesh were screened there. The students and teachers enjoyed the traditional Bangladeshi cuisines offered to them in conclusion of the event.
