‘Historic 7th March Speech’ of Bangabandhu

Bangladesh Embassy unveils the Spanish version of the ‘Historic 7th March Speech’ of Bangabandhu


 

The Spanish version of the ‘Historic 7th March Speech’ of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was unveiled today on 7 March 2022, Monday, at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Mexico City by Ambassador Abida Islam in presence of all the officials of the Embassy. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the presence at the event was limited to the officials only.

The Embassy observed the occasion with due solemnity and vigor. The proceeding of the Day commenced by hoisting the national flag by the Ambassador with the tune of the national anthem and reading out of the messages of Hon’ble President and Hon’ble Prime Minister given on the occasion. It was followed by reading out the ‘Historic 7th March Speech’ both in English and Spanish language. Later a documentary on the occasion was screened. During the open discussion session, the participants in their deliberations highlighted the significance of the ‘Historic 7th March Speech’.

Ambassador Abida Islam in her speech paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation as well as to all the valiant freedom fighters. Highlighting the significance of the ‘Historic 7th March Speech’, she underlined that this speech is a unique example of how a speech could awaken the entire nation, provide inspiration to their quest for freedom and emancipation, and prepare the people for the forthcoming struggle for independence. She also hoped that the Spanish version of the ‘Historic 7th March Speech’ would encourage Mexican friends and Spanish-speaking people all around the world to learn about the political life and contributions of Bangabandhu in the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent and sovereign nation-state in 1971. The event came to an end by entertaining the attendees with the traditional cuisine of Bangladesh.
